Naturally, these precious ecosystems and their inhabitants are worth sustaining and preserving for generations to come, locals and tourists alike. So, in an important move to make Los Cabos even more environmentally friendly, a new ban on single-use plastics has gone into effect.<\/p>\n

Beginning on August 16, 2019, the use of plastic bags, straws and Styrofoam containers (typically used for take-away foods) will be gradually restricted in Baja California Sur, which includes Los Cabos. Over the next 12 months, hotels, restaurants and food vendors are to find more sustainable, biodegradable and compostable products to replace single-use plastics and reduce waste overall.<\/p>\n

\"environmentProtecting the Unique Biodiversity<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Visitors can join in the effort by bringing their own reusable bags for shopping and say, \u201cno straw, please\u201d when given the option. Remember, when it comes to protecting our environment, a little can go a long way. When everyone pitches in, we can prevent these pollutants from ending up in our parks or on our beautiful beaches.<\/p>\n

Speaking of beaches, Los Cabos is the proud home of 19 beaches that have achieved Blue Flag status. These pristine sands have met a number of rigorous safety and cleanliness standards.
